Volunteer Support

There are many ways to volunteer your time to support the Discovery Program and Northridge Elementary. The DBC helps organize volunteers for the Discovery classroom and DBC Events. Emails announcing these volunteer requests will be sent out to Discovery families at the beginning of each semester and as needs arise.

Ongoing Classroom Opportunities

Ongoing opportunities may include weekly math volunteers, classroom parent, room librarian, and Thursday folders. Volunteers who are open to being placed in any grade and are able to commit to a regular weekly or monthly schedule will be given preference in these opportunities. If you need to change or reschedule your volunteer time, you are responsible for finding someone who can take your place.

One-Time Opportunities

One-time opportunities arise throughout the year. Examples include the Back-To-School Carnival DBC Booth, Multi-Cultural Night, field trips, and Popcorn Fridays. These volunteer opportunities are for those who cannot make a regular, ongoing commitment but could be available for planned events, both during school and after school. Volunteers who are available for 1-2 hour shifts and are interested in networking with other Discovery families and parents outside of their regular classroom will be perfect for these opportunities.

At Home Opportunities

These opportunities are for those who want to support the Discovery Program and are primarily available to work from home. Volunteers who have special expertise in website design, fundraising, grant writing and other similar areas could provide much-needed support for these opportunities.

Northridge Opportunities

These opportunities help support the broader Northridge community, including the Discovery Program. These opportunities are managed by Northridge School Staff and the Northridge PTA.
